Asanteman Council Resolves Impasse Between Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly And Traders

  The Asanteman Council has directed the Kejetia Traders Association to withdraw its court case seeking to place an injunction on the re-construction of the US$198 million first phase of the Kejetia Market by the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA). IMF approves second tranche of bailout to Ghana

  The IMF has approved $166 million to Ghana. This was after a board meeting in Accra on Monday that completed the first review of Ghana’s Extended Credit Facility.Completion of the review which enables the disbursement of about $116 million brings the total disbursements under the arrangement to $233m.In completing the review, the Executive Board also granted waivers for the non-observance of performance criteria regarding gross credit to government, and non-accumulation of external arrears, based on their minor and temporary nature and the corrective measures put in place by the authorities.The Executive Board also approved the authorities’ request for modifications of performance criteria.Ghana’s three-year arrangement for about $918 million or […]

313,000 Day Students To Benefit From Free SHS Policy

  More than 313,000 Senior High School (SHSs) day students are to benefit from the government’s progressively free SHS policy.The beneficiary students are from 591 selected senior high schools in the Ashanti Region and 88 in Volta, 82 in the Eastern and 67 in Brong Ahafo. 56 in Western and 54 in the Central Region, while 46 and 45 of such schools are in the Greater Accra and Northern Regions.A statement by the Acting Director General of the Ghana Education Service, Jacob Kor, said 28 and 23 of those schools are in the Upper East and West Regions.The statement therefore gave the assurance that the government is committed to the […]
