300 Rendered Homeless After Unannounced Demolition

ESIDENTS of Kanvili-Tunayili, including the over 300 members of the Signs and Wonders Charismatic Church have been displaced by what they say is unannounced demolition exercise carried out by the Sagnarigu District Assembly. The Angry residents are accusing the Assembly of being unfair in executing the sudden demolition exercise. The Sagnarigu District Assembly demolished a number of individual properties along the main road, stretching from King David Junction through Kanvili to Tunayili to pave way for the construction of the road.   A lecturer at the Agriculture faculty of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology Prof. S.C. Fialor has told in an exclusive interview that large class sizes are becoming a big challenge to the holistic study of agriculture in the country’s tertiary institutions. “You would know how to drive a tractor by the time you finished an Agriculture degree in my time due to lower numbers but the numbers have increased.   New Patriotic Party (NPP) Vice-Presidential candidate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia says the Finance Minister’s response to the revelation that $250million has been illegally transferred betrays his knowledge of financial laws. Dr. Bawumia who first made the claim also stated that the transfer is a clear violation of Section 53 of the Bank of Ghana Act 2002 (Act 612) which relates to the holding of state foreign exchange. Nkoranza South: NDC Chairman declares war

  The National Democratic Congress (NDC) constituency Chairman for Nkoranza South has declared war on a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the constituency. Robert Kainsung alleged that the NPP member sent some men to attack him after a misunderstanding between the two parties in the constituency. The misunderstanding erupted at a registration centre on Sunday during the Limited Biometric Voter Registration exercise largely due do the eligibility of some registrants. Supreme Court disqualifies ‘NHIS’ voters

  The Supreme Court has directed the EC to clean the voters register by deleting the names of persons who were registered unconstitutionally in 2012. This means all persons who registered to partake in the 2012 elections with National Health Insurance (NHIS) cards will have their names deleted. The Court, in a unanimous decision, however, gave the chance to those who will be disenfranchised due to the new directive to re-register.
