Owners of Montie FM fined

Owners of Accra-based Montie FM, who have been convicted for contempt charges by the Supreme Court, have been fined Ghc30,000 cedis to be paid tomorrow, Thursday, July 28. This was after the two panelists, and the Host of the ‘Pampamso’ political show, Salifu Maase, alias Mugabe, were sentenced to four months in prison , and fined Ghc10,000 each, also to be paid by close of Thursday, July 28. Failure to pay the amount according to the Court, will attract another one-month prison term. WAPCo dimisses $30m payment to N-Gas

The West African Gas Pipeline Company (WAPCo) has rejected claims that the government has paid some 30 million dollars as part payment of the over 100 million dollars debts owed the company. This is according to the Corporate Affairs Director for WAPCo, Harriet Wereko-Brobbey. Fear Mahama Will Steal My New Ideas For NHIS – Akufo-Addo

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer Nana Akufo-Addo wants to keep ideas about how to revitalize the “ailing” National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) close to his chest because he fears President John Mahama will steal them. Court Frees Amoateng Over ‘Fake Passport’ Charge

An Accra Circuit Court has acquitted and discharged a former legislator Eric Amoateng, who after serving a ten-year jail term in the  United States for a drug-related offense, was also put before court in Ghana, for allegedly possessing a fake Ghanaian passport. According to the judgment delivered by Justice Ellen Amoah the case by the state failed to prove beyond reasonable doubt, that the accused did anything untoward in acquiring the fake passport.     Finance Minister, Mr Seth Terkper has beseeched parliament once again for approval of GHS 1,888,203,307 as Supplementary Estimates for the 2016 financial year. ‘My husband told me Afoko poured the acid’ – Adams Mahama’s wife testifies

  Wife of Adams Mahama, the deceased Upper East Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has testified against the man accused of murdering her husband. Hajia Zenabu Adams has told an Accra High Court that before her husband died, he told her that Gregory Afoko and  Asabke Alangbi poured acid on him leading to his death. Gregory Afoko, is being held on the charges of conspiracy to commit crime and murder of the late Upper East Regional Chairman in May 2015.   Parliamentary committee backs November 7 election date Electoral Commission (EC)’s plans to change Presidential and Parliamentary elections from December to November is poised for success as a parliamentary committee gives it backing.     The Inspector General of Police (IGP), John Kudalor has reiterated his intention to ban social media on Election Day if need be. The IGP who was earlier criticized for this same comment seems unwilling to change his mind. He fears social media if allowed on Election Day, will disrupt the process.
