2016 Polls: We’ll Avoid Another Election Petition – Mahama

President John Mahama continues to hype his performance since assuming the reigns of the country, saying even a whole year of “counting pink sheets” could not jeopardize his plans for the country. But for the New Patriotic Party’s election petition, he added, his government would have achieved more than it has done. Addressing chiefs and residents of Aboadze after inspecting the Shama and Aboadze sea defence project, President Mahama said “When I took over in 2013 our friends took us to the court over the 2012 election [and] almost the entire first year was wasted” and that stalled the development of the country. “They were there counting pink sheets, we […]

Obinim speaks on flogging of ‘fornicators’ in church [Audio]

Following the widespread condemnation of the founder of the International God’s Way Church, Bishop Daniel Obinim’s public flogging of two of his members for alleged fornication, he has described some Ghanaians as hypocrites for judging him for his actions. “The Bible in Proverbs says if you love your child, you discipline them. That is why I beat the children, because of their immorality… For some of you, if it were your child, you would have beaten them more than I did,” Bishop Obinim said, breaking his silence on the incident. A video showing Obinim whipping a teenage boy, believed to be 16, and a girl, 14, for the alleged fornication and subsequent abortion […]

Afoko must confess before re-admission into NPP – Prof Ocquaye

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has said the only way it would revoke the suspension of its National Chairman, Paul Afoko, is when he confesses his sins and asks for forgiveness. Head of NPP’s Constitutional Committee, Professor Mike Ocquaye, said the conventional way of re-admitting persons who have been suspended in any organisation on grounds of misdemeanor would be when the person has shown remorse for his misdeeds. “In this world, you must be flexible. When you go to confession it is what you say in Latin that is valued. He must show remorse and go for confession before he will be readmitted into the party,” Prof Ocquaye told […]
