NDC berates EC over deletion of its members from register

The National Democratic Congress is angry at the Electoral Commission for deleting about 192 names of its sympathizers from the electoral roll at the Awutu Senya East Constituency. The EC deleted the names after obtaining an order from the court. According to the Commission the names were deleted because the individual failed to establish that they are residents in the area. But the NDC is accusing its main contender, the NPP, of masterminding the deletion of the names. Mahama Defends Himself Claiming Nana Addo Attacked Him First

President John Dramani Mahama has denied attacking the person of his main contender in the elections, Nana Akufo-Addo on the campaign trail adding that, Nana Addo and his team attacked him first. According to him, he has rather endured name-calling and insults from Nana Addo and the NPP over the years. Mahama had described flagbearer of the NPP as a divisive leader and a dictator, who in his view cannot run the country. ‘We need to pass law to regulate Speaker’s discretionary powers’ – Minority leader

  The Minority leader in Parliament says the Speaker’s dismissal of a motion calling for the President to be investigated, is a dangerous attitude that must be checked. Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, therefore, wants a law passed to regulate the Speaker’s use of his discretionary powers which he deems to have been arbitrarily used at Thursday’s sitting. The motion in contention was one demanding the setting up of a Special Committee to investigate President John Mahama after he accepted a Ford Expedition gift from a Burkinabe contractor in 2012. ‘Superman’ Rawlings was unbeatable in 1996 election – Kufuor

  Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has described the 1996 general election in which he challenged former President Jerry John Rawlings, as a memorable one. He says former President Rawlings, who contested on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) was a “superman then”.
