Government Set To Pay Zoomlion GHc450 million Debt

Government is set to pay Zoomlion Ghana Limited over GHC448m for its failure to terminate its contract with a service provider Zoomlion. The amount is now debt that has accrued as a result of further services which the company claims it has provided the state through the Ghana Youth Employment and Entrepreneurial Development Agency (GYEEDA). The United States Ambassador to Ghana, Robert P. Jackson, has refuted claims that it has taken sides with the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), over the violence that broke out at the residence of the opposition leader, Nana Akufo-Addo. The United States (US) Embassy, in condemning the violence of the elections, threatened to revoke visas for persons who incite violence ahead of the elections. Woyome’s GHc4M payment to EOCO ‘cooked up’ story – Amidu

A former Attorney General, nicknamed the ‘Citizen Vigilante’, Martin Amidu, has questioned the transaction in which businessman Alfred Agbesi Woyome, claims to have paid GHc4 million to the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO), as part payment of the controversial GHc51 million judgment debt he received from the state. Veteran actor Katawere has died

Veteran Kumawood actor Ebenezer Donkor, popularly known as Katawere, has died. The actor died Monday morning after battling an undisclosed sickness for the past two years. Daughter of the actor, Diana Donkor, confirmed the news to “It’s true [he passed away] this morning. I saw it around 9 a.m but we took him to the hospital at 10:30 a.m and the doctor [from Opoku Ware Hospital] confirmed,” she said. The Supreme Court has dismissed a suit filed by Amoako Tuffuor and other seeking an early declaration of special voting results. President of the five-member panel hearing the case, Justice William Atuguba said a declaration of the results of special voting could prejudice the results of the general elections Other members of the panel are Mr Justice Jones Dotse, Mr Justice Anin Yeboah, Mr Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie and Mr Justice A.A. NDC will win 13 Parliamentary seats in Ashanti region- Prez Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama is promising nine more parliamentary seats for the National Democratic Congress in the Ashanti region, the electoral world bank of the opposition New Patriotic Party. The Electoral Commission (EC) says it is focused and committed to ensuring that the presidential and parliamentary elections pull through without hitches. Deputy Director of Communications at the EC, Yussif Ayuba told Raymond Acquah, host of Joy FM’s Top Story programme Tuesday that the Commission has commenced the electoral process and would end it. “Election is not an event but a process and there are so many processes the Commission has undertaken,” he said.
