Dada KD’s Brother Kills Man, 22

The brother of Dada Kwaku Duah (Dada KD), highlife musician, knocked down a 22-year-old man at Assin Manso on Christmas Day, killing him on the spot. The musician confirmed this to in an exclusive interview. Narrating the incident, the award-winning musician said the accident happened at about 4:30 am on the Assin Fosu-Assin Manso road. “I travelled from Accra to Kumasi for a show. Producer Price Inflation shoots up to 11.9 %

Ghana’s Producer Price Inflation (PPI) for November 2016 reached 11.9 percent, from the 9.7 percent recorded in October. This represents a 1.2 percent increase in the PPI figures recorded between the one month period. According to the Ghana Statistical Service, the utility subsector recorded the highest year on year inflation of 38.3 percent. It was followed by mining and quarrying subsector’s 19.4 percent. Meanwhile the manufacturing sector recorded the lowest PPI; 4.9 percent, in November this year. Article 71 Holders Set For 10% Pay Rise In 2017

The President and and other top hierarchy in Ghana’s political system are set to enjoy a 10% pay rise from January 2017 as recommended by the Presidential Committee on Emoluments. The 10% pay hike covers all members listed under Article 71 of the 1992 constitution and has been backdated to 2013. The committee on emoluments proposed an annual increment of 10% from 2013 to 2017 for politicians covered under the Article 71. Parliament has resumed sitting Tuesday to consider salaries and emoluments for Article 71 office holders. The consideration of the ex-gratia payment will be one of the final activities of the sixth Parliament of the fourth Republic before its tenure elapses on January 6. Online passport application to start in 2017 – Minister

Ghanaians will no longer have to wake up at dawn to queue for passports but may soon be able to apply and secure a passport by applying online. The Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Hanna Tetteh, says her outfit has put measures in place to ensure that all online applicants receive their passports by the end of the second quarter of 2017. Five incumbent members of Parliament lose seat in Upper East
