MPs yet to receive report on Ayariga bribery scandal on final day of sitting

Members of Parliament are concerned about the apparent delay in the release of committee report about bribery allegations against members of the Appointment Committee of Parliament. Even though the report is tabled for a debate on the floor on Thursday, members are yet to receive copies, Joy News’ Parliamentary correspondent Joseph Opoku Gakpo reported. First Deputy BoG Governor to act until substantive Governor is appointed

The First Deputy Governor of the Central Bank, Millison Narh, would be acting until a substantive Governor is appointed, the Finance Minister has announced, Thursday. Ken Ofori-Atta in a press statement hours after the resignation of the Central Bank Governor, Dr Nashiru Issahaku, said government would announce his replacement in the coming weeks. “We want to assure all stakeholders that with our commitment to macroeconomic stability the new Governor will build significantly on the success of Dr. Issahaku,” he said. Gov’t approves GHC559 NSS allowance

  The government has approved the amount of GHC559 to be paid as monthly allowance to National Service personnel. Payments of the upward adjustment start from April 1, management of the National Service Secretariat has said. Acting NSS Executive Director, Ussif Mustapha, in a statement Thursday thanked President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for the approval. He said this will empower service personnel to be committed in the discharge of their duties. The NSS allowance was increased by President John Mahama in his last days in office.   The allowance was moved from GHC350 to GHC559, nearly two years since it was last increased. Kenyan lawyer sues Israel, Italy for killing Jesus

A Kenyan lawyer has filed a petition with the International Court of Justice in The Hague, suggesting that the trial and crucifixion of Jesus Christ was unlawful. Dola Indidis said the State of Israel among others should be held responsible, Kenyan news outlet the Nairobian reported some time ago. 3 communities compete with animals for water

Lack of potable water has compelled residents of three communities in the East Gonja District of the Northern Region to compete with animals for drinking water from two dugouts in their communities. Residents of Vogyili, Sakpelua and Kpinchilla, about 21 kilometres away from Tamale, depend on the unsafe water from the dugout dams located at Kpinchilla and Sakpelua, which also serve as sources of drinking water for their livestock. ‘Disloyalty will not be tolerated’ – Akufo-Addo swears in deputies

President Akufo-Addo has warned deputy regional ministers that acts of disloyalty or subversion will not be tolerated. “I will not countenance any acts of disloyalty or subversion of your minister for I will take such an act as disloyalty to me personally and by inference the party and to the state”. He said this when he swore in ten deputy regional ministers last night at the presidency. Information minister Mustapha Hamid has defended the size of the Akufo-Addo government explaining that a lean government was never one of the NPP’s campaign promises. “We never promised a lean government,” he addressed a press conference Wednesday after government released a fresh list of 54 ministers of state and deputy ministers. An Infectious Diseases specialist at the Pediatric Unit of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital has urged the public to help de-congest the Maternity Ward where a newborn baby shares a cot with seven others. At a joint session of Joy News’ AM Show and Joy FM’s Super Morning Show in Ashanti regional capital Kumasi, Dr. Anthony Enimil said his unit launched a ‘one baby, one cot’ campaign in 2016 to help ease the situation.
