Ibrahim Mahama invited by EOCO

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Engineers and Planners, Ibrahim Mahama, is currently being interrogated by the Economic and Organized Crimes Office (EOCO). Today’s interrogation, which has lasted close to eight hours, is based on new accusations of financial malfeasance. Former Member of Parliament for Akwatia, Baba Jamal confirmed this on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Tuesday. Fire Guts Kumasi Central Market

A fire outbreak at the Kumasi Central Market Monday afternoon has destroyed shops, stalls and goods worth several thousands of Ghana cedis. Luv FM’s Erastus Asare Donkor who confirmed the incident on Asempa FM’s Ekosi Sen said personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service are at the scene fighting the fire. The fire believed to have started at 1 p.m on Monday also burnt down a KIA truck parked in front of the building which houses several shops. Though the cause of the fire is still unknown, a KIA truck loaded with mattresses is believed to have sparked fire after the mattresses came into contacts with an electric cable. The Progressive People’s Party (PPP) is demanding urgent government action to stop illegal mining in three-months. It says if the the government fails, it will be dragged to the International Criminal Court (ICC). The PPP at a news conference in Accra Monday said it wants government to come out with failsafe strategies to save the remaining water bodies from destructive mining activities. 8 Delta Force members remanded over court raid

  The eight Delta Force members arrested for allegedly sparking the confusion at the Kumasi Circuit Court, leading to the escape of 13 of their own who were arraigned, have been remanded to reappear before the court on April 18, 2017. Citi News’ Lauretta Timah reported that, the eight were accompanied by tight security comprising a SWAT team from Accra and police in plain clothes. The accused were seen to be generally calm as they were walked into the court in handcuffs. The former Environment Lands and Natural Resources Minister has pointed to a well oiled network of Chinese influence that is determined to keep the galamsey business booming for their own benefit. According to Inusah Fuseini a high powered Chinese delegation had the courage to attempt to bribe him with sponsorship of his child to the best schools in order to allow them to continue mining. Corruption has started germinating from the stables of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), leaving many people to wonder whether corruption is likely seize in the public sector. Information intercepted by this paper indicates that about Six Hundred and Twenty Nine Thousand, Nine Hundred and Ninety Three Ghana Cedis Forty Six Pesewas (GH¢629, 993.46) was paid to a food supplier company for half work done. The company according to the information was contracted by GNFS to supply food stuff to the Fire Academy and Training School for the National Youth Employment Agency (NYEA) under training for 24 weeks, meanwhile it was found out that they only delivered for 12 weeks.
