Löw makes it clear: “It needs profound changes” – coach decision next week

After the historic preliminary round-out at the World Cup in Russia, the mood in the DFB team is at a low. Jerome Boateng even apologized in an open letter to the fans. Both the future of national coach Joachim Loew and some of the well-established national team is in the stars. While DFB President Reinhard Grindel resolutely rejected a quick shot in the Personalie Löw, the DFB veterans think not of a resignation. One day after the embarrassing preliminary round-out at the World Cup in Russia, the German national team left the World Cup quarter Watutinki and landed in Frankfurt with just over an hour late. Immediately after the arrival, […]

NDC Minority Has No Credibility

They have either been working strenuously to sabotage the business of the Ghanaian people, or simply boycotting Parliamentary Proceedings and getting extravagantly paid for such regressive use of their Parliamentary Privilege. So it is just not clear to me what Mr. James Klutse Avedzi means when he ironically accuses the New Patriotic Party’s Parliamentary Majority as follows: “They think Ghana belongs to them and they can work without us so [they can go ahead]” (See “ ‘Go Ahead and Work Without Us’ – Minority Adopts ‘Sit-and-Watch’ Attitude” / 2/7/18). Actually, it is the Rawlings-founded National Democratic Congress (NDC) whose key operatives behave as if they are the sole holders of […]

Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, was Thursday gagged by the Speaker of Parliament from contributing to a statement on Ghanaian migrants in the United States who are being held by US authorities ahead of their deportation. Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister, Habib Tijani appeared before the House on behalf of the sector Minister who is out of the country, to brief the MPs on claims that the illegal Ghanaian migrants were being given inhumane treatment at a deportation camp in the US. Though per the rules, the ranking member on Foreign Affairs, Mr. Ablakwa was required to be given the opportunity to speak on the matter, the […]

FIFA delegation arrives in Ghana for crucial meeting over GFA crisis

Joy News sources say three officials from FIFA arrived in Ghana Thursday evening for a crucial meeting with the Sports Ministry following government’s decision to initiate a process to dissolve the Ghana Football Association (GFA). The meeting will discuss recent developments at the GFA and government’s ongoing legal process to dissolve the Association following Anas Aremeyaw Anas’s investigative documentary. The explosive documentary captured some top officials of GFA allegedly accepting bribes to fix matches and change the natural outcome of some games. Former GFA President, Kwesi Nyantakyi, was also seen in the video allegedly convincing undercover agents to bribe top government officials for a chance to control football in Ghana. […]

Nigeria puts Iceland World Cup hopes on ice

Nigeria put Iceland’s World Cup hopes on ice after substituting a purposeless first-half performance with an attacking intent to record a much-needed win in Russia. Nigeria made up for 45minutes of lethargy with four minutes of energy and two well-structured attacks to test the goal keeper for the first time in the game. Former Tottenham boss Tim Sherwood advice from inside a studio in South Africa was spot on. ‘These guys are not good at possession football. They are fast off the ball and need long passes’. And Nigeria enacted this advice on the pitch to devastation. All goals a deadly piece of counter-attacking football. Nigeria from defending a throw-in […]

Nayele set free after serving 3 years in UK jail

Ruby Nayele Ametefe, who was jailed in the United Kingdom for eight and a half years for dealing in narcotic drugs in 2015, has been released on parole. She served three out of the eight-and-a-half-year term. Sources close to the Narcotics Control Board (NACOB) said Nayele was released a couple of days ago. Meanwhile, she has renounced her Ghanaian citizenship for Austrian citizenship. The sources said she was released on parole for being of good behaviour while serving her jail term. Plea Nayele had pleaded guilty to carrying 12 kilogrammes of cocaine to the UK. The Isleworth Crown Court in London accordingly sentenced her based on her own ‘guilty’ plea. […]

Ken Agyapong finally sets date to expose Anas

Member of Parliament for Assin Central Constituency Kennedy Ohene Agyapong says he will show his much-anticipated counter-video to Anas Aremeyaw Anas’ documentary film on Wednesday, June 27. He said he will show the video, dubbed ‘Who Watches the Watchman?’, in the evening between 7:00pm and 8:00pm on a large screen in front of his radio and television stations. Speaking on Oman FM on Thursday night, the maverick lawmaker said patrons will see who sponsored Anas Aremeyaw Anas to carry out his investigation. Most of the sponsors are journalists who wanted Kwesi Nyantakyi out of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), he alleged. The parliamentarian says he will expose them all. After […]

Bombshell: ‘Some NPP Officials Hired Me To Kill J.B Danquah’ – Suspect

The prime suspect standing trial for the alleged murder of the late NPP Member of Parliament for the Abuakwa North Constituency, Daniel Asiedu, has told the court that he was contracted by some persons in the New Patriotic Party, to kill the legislator. Giving a voluntary confession in court on Wednesday, Daniel Asiedu threatened to name the persons who supposedly hired him. The accused said after his arrest, those who contracted him, also approached him to rather accuse some NDC persons of being responsible for the crime. According to him, he was asked to do this with the promise that he will be freed when the NPP returns to power, […]

Simpa Panyin: Ibrahim Mahama and Kennedy Agyapong paid me for the articles

Social justice is not only when you profess it or when you become a victim; social justice is when you choose to stand out in defence of the vulnerable, and the minority, regardless of the risks and the cost to yourself. For three weeks straight, I had written in partial support of Kennedy Agyapong’s banter with Anas Aremeyaw Anas, and I have earned myself the pouring in of questions, questions as to how much Kennedy Agyapong paid me to write what I had written, just in the same way as people asked, how much Ibrahim Mahama paid me, to write in his defense when his Bauxite concession issues came up […]

IMF team in Accra for program review, mid-year revenue measures

The IMF team is in Accra on a staff visit to ascertain the preparedness of the country’s march towards exiting the Fund-supported Program by the end of the year. The IMF staff would want to carry out their own assessments of Ghana’s program implementation so far. They would also want to find out how the government has gone in preparing the ground for the announcement and implementation of the proposed new revenue measures which is highly expected to be announced in the 2018 Mid-Year Budget Review. For some,  the visit is being described as crucial because the IMF, wants to ensure that government is going ahead with proposals to review […]
