Akufo-Addo Gives Gh¢2m Scholarship To Farmers, Fishermen

Government has released 2million Ghana Cedis to the Scholarship Secretariat to implement the first phase of the Presidential Farmers Scholarship scheme in September this year. The Scheme will cover 120 people, made up of the 24 award winners of the 2018 National Best Farmer Awards, two of their children or wards and two of their workers. The Andani Royal family has withdrawn from the Asantehene, Otumfou Osei Tutu II, led mediation committee. GHC2 Billion Released To Settle Debt Owed Contractors

The government is to release about GH¢2 billion between this year and early 2019 to settle outstanding arrears owed contractors, mostly in the road sector, Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, has said. In an interview with the Daily Graphic in Accra, Mr Ofori-Atta said out of the amount, GH¢1 billion had already been earmarked for disbursement by the end of the year, while an additional GH¢900 million would be paid to contractors in the course of next year. EC fails to provide evidence of ROPAA implementation

The Electoral Commission has failed to produce actual evidence of the implementation of the Representation of the People’s Amendment Act, 2006 popularly known as ROPAA to an Accra High Court as ordered a month ago. The Commission is now seeking to rely on two documents it tendered before the court as evidence of implementation of the law despite an earlier admission that those two documents were insufficient evidence.
